SAHAJA YOGA REALISATION PROGRAMME CONDUCTED FOR MEDICAL CONSULTANTS OF SIR GANGA RAM HOSPITAL, DELHI
By the blessings of Shri Mataji, recently a Realisation programme was conducted in Sir Ganga Ram Hospital. Dr Sandeep Rai was invited to deliver a presentation in the Alumini Oration at the prestigious Sir Ganga Ram Institute of Post Graduate Medical Education & Research, New Delhi on 13th, Jan, 2014.
Going into the history of this hospital, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital was originally established by Sir Ganga Ram, Civil Engineer in the British Government at Lahore in 1921. In 1946 the family of Sir Ganga Ram started a medical college by the name Balak Ram Medical College named after the son of Sir Ganga Ram. The college was closed soon after independence in 1947 and its premises abandoned. Fatima Jinnah Medical College, Lahore was established in 1948 in the same premises and named after Mohtarma Fatima Jinnah, the sister of Mohammad Ali Jinnah. For Sahaj Yogis it is of great importance to know that Shri Mataji studied Medicine for some years in Balak Ram Medical College in Lahore, but could not complete the course due to Her involvement in freedom struggle. Balak Ram Medical College, (pic. Inset) was attached to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital both located in Lahore at that time.
After partition another hospital with the same name was re-established in India. The hospital, was named after Sir Ganga Ram which started with a small 100 bed establishment in Delhi, thereafter expanded over the years to its present size and eminence, covering most of the specialties in medical and surgical care. Voted as one of the topmost hospitals in the country, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital has over 50 years of experience in providing expert super specialty healthcare service delivery to the population of Delhi, other states of India and to its neighboring countries. The hospital is one of the leading tertiary care hospitals with 100% occupancy at all times. The program was conducted in the auditorium of Sir Ganga Ram Hospital and the proceedings were directly telecast in an adjacent larger auditorium, as the large crowd could not be accommodated in one auditorium. Those present on the dais were Dr D.S Rana, Chairman, Ganga Ram Board of Management& Director Nephrology Services, Dr S. Nundy, Dean Ganga Ram Institute of Post graduate Medical Education & Research & Head of GI Surgery& Director of Liver Transplant Program, Chief guest Dr Bipin Batra, Executive Director National Board of Examinations, Guest of Honour Dr A.K Aggarwal, Dean & Professor of Excellence Medicine, Maulana Azad Medical College, New Delhi, Hon’ble Trustee Dr AshokChandra, Chairman Board of Trustees, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi.
The Audience consisted of many, top academicians, Super specialists, and Consultants of Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, from various Specialties.
The topic of oration was aptly chosen in the field of Mind –Body- Medicine, so as to cover the aspect and scope of presenting Sahaja Yoga to the audience. During the presentation medical researches on Sahaja Yoga that have been carried out all over the world were also illustrated. Subsequently with the Divine grace of Shri Mataji, Realization program was conducted. It was very heartening to see that the realization programme was very well accepted and many doctors including the Chairman of this reputed hospital continued to be in meditation even after the Program was over.
After the Program several doctors urged for opening a special Meditation Centre for practicing Sahaja Yoga in Sir Ganga Ram Hospital premises. Efforts are on towards working out the scope for the same. In the end Prof Sandeep Rai was honoured with a prestigious plaque presented by Executive Director, National Board of Examinations, Govt of India, for his commendable contribution in the Field of Medicine.
